an innovative restaurant that brings the Bay Area a new way to experience food, drink, art, and live music

“We have a deep passion and respect for the tradition,”

say Executive Chef Paul Canales, whose father was of Basque heritage.

“But on any given night, we will take advantage of the full bounty of what we have here in Northern California. The cuisine is familiar and comforting, but it is not ‘museum food.’ It is ingredient driven and fueled by our boundless pursuit of savor.”

Duende is the spirit of evocation. It comes from inside as a physical/emotional response to music. It is what gives you chills, makes you smile or cry as a bodily reaction to an artistic performance that is particularly expressive.”

“Improvisational music is a major inspiration behind everything we do here at Duende” says GM Rocco Somazzi.

Meet Our Team

Meet Our Team

DUENDE is a collaboration between Chef Paul Canales and restaurateur/impresario Rocco Somazzi, born from a common passion for creative soulful food, artisan wines, beers & spirits and eclectic improvised music and art. Their cohorts in this venture are tech whiz and food enthusiast Tony Siress and strategic visionary and style maven Alex Vorbeck.

She started her career helping large companies invest and expand and then moved on to helping private parties manage and build their wealth. Working very hard her whole life, alex has created several growing companies. But her accomplishments go further than finances, Alex has a diverse collection of successes, from a thriving all natural avocado farm, to a successful boutique wealth management firm, and even an independent film and television company. Although she is a great business entrepreneur she is an even better mom and her greatest accomplishments are her two children, Devon and Aaron.

Tony Siress
